E-file rejection errors IND-031-01 or IND-032-01

How to fix an e-filed return that was rejected with one of these errors:

E-file rejection error IND-031-02

It looks like the IRS rejected your taxes

The adjusted gross income you entered doesn’t match what the IRS has in their database. Here are two ways for you to re-file your taxes:

1.Try e-filing again

Go back into TurboTax and change the number you entered for your 2018 adjusted gross income (AGI). If you don’t know this number, some people are able to request it with IRS Get Transcript. You can also try entering 0.

2. Print and mail your taxes
If the IRS continues to reject your taxes, or you are unable to find your AGI, we recommend you print and mail your taxes to the IRS and your state tax office.

E-file rejection errors IND-031-02 or IND-032-02:  PrimaryPriorYearPIN or SpousePriorYearPIN mismatch

How to fix an e-filed return that was rejected with one of these errors:

ND-031-02: 'PrimaryPriorYearPIN' or 'PrimaryElectronicFilingPIN' or 'PrimaryPriorYearAGIAmt' in the Return Header must match the e-File database.

ND-032-02: 'SpousePriorYearPIN' or 'SpouseElectronicFilingPIN' or 'SpousePriorYearAGIAmt' in the Return Header must match the e-File database.

1. Use your 2018 AGI, not your PIN, to verify your identity. Simply open TurboTax and follow the on-screen instructions to enter your AGI and resubmit your return to e-file.

If your return keeps getting rejected, or you can't get your 2018 AGI: Try entering 0 as your AGI. This sometimes works for taxpayers whose 2018 returns weren't processed by the IRS before late November of 2019.

2. File a paper return instead of e-filing. Print and mail your taxes to the IRS and your state tax office.
