Some Bank of America customers have discovered that the routing number printed on their checks are not being accepted by the bank for direct deposit of refunds or for direct debit of taxes owed.
In some cases, the Bank of America routing number printed on the check differs from the routing number used for electronic transactions.
Because direct deposits and debits are electronic transactions, the routing number from the check will not work.
To resolve this issue, go to the Bank of America website and use the routing number found under How do I know which ABA routing number to use? for your state.
